چکیده

Bacillus cereus JCM44 was isolated from the soil samples collected Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, using a minimal agar medium. It characterized by its ability to biotransform chitin into chitosan at 30°C for 48 h. The Chitosan (CS) recovered 0.1N Sodium hydroxide and 2% acetic acid. confirmed iodine solution with dark purple colouration qualitatively identified acetone ethanol. CS formation has been X-ray diffraction (XRD) Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis elucidated an average size 349 nm 1µm morphology non-porous, smooth membrane irregular shape crystallite. Zeta potential study bacterially synthesized showed their excellent stability surface charge -2.28 mV. Bacterially Synthesized (BSC), polydispersity index (PDI) value 0.626 indicates aggregation particles. peaks higher wavenumber confirm blend in (BCS) OH NH denoted. XRD BSC detected crystallinity when compared commercial chitosan.

Fermented and enzymatic production of chitin/chitosan oligosaccharides by extracellular chitinases from Bacillus cereus TKU027.

Two chitinases, Chi I and Chi II, were purified from the culture supernatant of Bacillus cereus TKU027 with shrimp head powder (SHP) as the sole carbon/nitrogen source. The molecular masses of Chi I and Chi II determined using SDS-PAGE were approximately 65kDa and 63kDa, respectively. Chi I toward various surfactants showed high stability, such as SDS, Tween 20, Tween 40 and Triton X-100, and t...

Chitin from the mollusc Chiton: Extraction, characterization and chitosan preparation

This study presents the first ever data of extracting chitin from the Chiton shell, which then converted to the soluble chitosan by soaking in the 45% NaOH solution. The obtained chitin and chitosan were characterized by the seven different methods. Antioxidant activity of the extracted chitosan was also evaluated using the two methods. The shell content was divided into calcium carbonate (90.5...

Bioconversion of chitin to chitosan: purification and characterization of chitin deacetylase from Mucor rouxii.

Chitin deacetylase, the enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of acetamido groups of N-acetylglucosamine in chitin, has been purified to homogeneity from mycelial extracts of the fungus Mucor rouxii and further characterized. The enzyme exhibits a low pI (approximately 3). Its apparent molecular mass was determined to be approximately 75 kDa by sodium dodecyl sulfate/polyacrylamide gel electroph...
